In February, the Tradie Mag’s inaugural All Trades Industry Expo descended upon Brisbane. The Tradie were joined by some innovative and trail-blazing exhibitors, and welcomed a bunch of new faces through the doors. Set amongst the leisurely scenery of St Lucia Golf Club, a relaxed Friday afternoon saw tradies stopping by for a cold one and a browse of what these unique exhibitors had to offer – everything from tools and PPE to education and other essential tradie services.

The TAFE Qld stand

TAFE Queensland:
Our friends at TAFE Queensland were setup to talk one-on-one to tradies about everything needed for training, licensing and everything involved in the case of an incomplete apprenticeship. The legends at TAFE Queensland provide various funding for Aussie Tradies and qualifications that are on par with what the big universities are handing out.

The Tradezone Electrical stand

Trade Zone Electrical
Did you know there is an online shopping utopia for tradies? We didn’t until we met the fellas from Trade Zone Electrical! Rob and Daniel both came from the Gold Coast for the All Trades Expo, as a part of the team that makes up Australia’s largest online electrical wholesaler. Their business has grown 400 per cent since they started 14 months ago, so if you haven’t heard of them, you’re about to!

The impressive Paslode stand!

We had the pleasure of hosting Tony and Robbie from Paslode on the Gold Coast with their super-impressive exhibitor stand. In fact, these blokes won a prize category for having the best stand overall! You couldn’t miss them – a splash of that hard-to-miss orange and with some ripper tools to play with, it was certainly looking the part!

Something we learnt about Paslode: The boys will stop by on site and give you a demo of that tool on your wish list. Give them a buzz and ask about it!

The Rural Aid stand

 Rural Aid Australia
Nibedita joined us for the afternoon on behalf of this awesome Brisbane-based charity. They organise willing and able volunteers to do work for farmers and rural communities, which is awesome! Fancy fixing up a house or fencing for someone less capable? Check out this mob and do a good deed!

Rob from Accountriks

Brisbane-based numbers whiz Robert has an extensive background in financial services. On chatting to us, he explained he knows tradies don’t love the dutiful task of bookkeeping and so, don’t do it (he’s onto us)! This is why Robert created Accountriks – a low cost, accurate and timely service for our readers to make sure you’re getting the most out of your money, which is what you work so hard for!

Carol from Dial Before You Dig

Dial Before You Dig
Carol from Dial Before You Dig brought an impressive promotional vehicle for us to gawk at during the All Trades Industry Expo and when she had some down time, she stopped for a chat…

“We’re here for the community as a safety service. We provide information for underground assets for anyone needing to know what might be below before they dig. That can be tradies, mums and dads, or anyone who wants to know what’s running underground throughout Australia.”

Glen from CBUS

The gang from CBUS travelled far and wide to join us for the afternoon to talk all things superannuation. Brisbane-based Glen had a quick chin-wag and gave us the scoop on CBUS’ involvement in building 1 William Street in Brisbane City. That massive project created about 5000 jobs for the local economy and they’re proud to support all you legends working in construction!

Testing out the goodies at the UVEX stand!

We welcomed Kristiina to the expo, the head honcho of marketing for Uvex all the way from Sydney. Alongside her was technical sales representative Michelle, who explained this German-manufactured PPE brand started 91 years ago creating skiing goggles for the slopes! As we know, today you can find them on the head of any tradie in the mining and construction industries throughout Australia. It’s easy to see why these guys won the ‘best product in action’ category!

Special guests from Blackwoods joined us for the day from good old Sydney Town. National Category Manager Leslie said, “we are a reliable partner that helps customers with tailor-made contracts for equipment safety and industrial.”

Shane from Brisbane was also with us on the day and the team taught us all about the company and what they can do for all tradies, from commercial to domestic!

The team from AMP Fibian receiving their award for best small stand

AMP Fibian
While their stall was a little more compact than others, it still won a prize for the best small stand at the expo. David and Oliver travelled all the way from Ballina in New South Wales to be with us, showcasing their range of electrical safety products for tradies. However, it’s crucial for you to know they specialize in RV and caravan electrics as well!

Our Tradie Lady
Peta joined us from the Gold Coast for the day with a few words for our tradies…

“I’ve been in insurance for 18 years and I now only assist tradies with everything they might need.  Tradies don’t generally get the love and attention they need when it comes to insurance and I know they’re time poor, on site and need someone who is flexible and can talk after hours, so that’s what I can do for them!”

Cheers to all exhibitors and tradies who came to celebrate the launch of the All Trades Indsutry Expo – we can’t wait to see you at the next event! Stay tuned for details at
