Renault Kangoo Diesel To Become The Automatic Choice

Tradies young and not so young looking for comfort and convenience from their toolbox-on-wheels will be pleased to learn Renault has introduced an automatic gearbox for the frugal yet grunty Kangoo diesel compact van.

The new Kangoo diesel auto is light on fuel but big on space with 4m3 of load area in the back that won’t get wet in the rain, keeps your tools and gear safe and secure from prying eyes, and on a long run home takes much of the effort out of driving, especially slogging through traffic.

The much-admired Kangoo drives like a passenger car, which means it’s smooth and easy to operate and the 6-speed automatic gearbox slips through changes almost unnoticed.

Like all Kangoos, the diesel auto comes with standard, wide-opening rear barn doors and a sliding side door on each side, making access to the load area easy, convenient and removing the need to haul gear over the side of a tub or out of an expensive metal tool box.

The two-pedal turbo-diesel Kangoo uses a similar 6-speed automatic transmission to that fitted to the 1.2-litre turbo petrol Kangoo launched in Australia in February this year and has been widely praised for its driving qualities.

The Kangoo diesel engine produces 81kW/250Nm of torque while sipping just 5.4L/100km and also offers an ECO Mode, cutting fuel consumption by up to an additional 10 per cent for those keeping a close eye on their running costs.

As with the entire Renault Kangoo range, the diesel EDC variant will be offered with a 3-year/200,000km factory warranty and 3-years of 24/7 Roadside Assistance.  Service intervals are annual or every 15,000km and Renault’s Capped Price Servicing means the first three scheduled services cost only $349 each at any of the 56 Authorised Renault Dealers, nationwide.

“The Kangoo is a comfortable and practical small van that’s also very easy to drive,” said Lyndon Healey, Senior Model Line Manager for Renault LCV.  “It comes with a wide array of Tradie-friendly features, like Bluetooth and Cruise, and plenty of safety gear including ESC, rear park sensors and 4 airbags as well.”

The Kangoo Maxi Diesel Automatic went on sale on 1 December with an MRLP from $29,990.
